The Department of Education – Schools Division of Batangas, a large-sized division in CALABARZON region is committed to improve the overall performance of the school’s division in term of access to quality basic education for all, equity for children, youths, and adults in situation of disadvantage, quality of basic education provision and learning outcomes, learners’ well-being and resilience and governance, as well as provision of quality basic education services to its customers, thereby making it relevant to the needs and expectations of their customers and other stakeholders.
As one of the premier divisions in CALABARZON, SDO Batangas is composed of 35 school districts, 732 public schools, 1 school with complete K-12 offerings, 590 purely elementary schools, 19 integrated junior schools, 91 purely junior high schools, 34 integrated senior high schools and 29 standalone senior high schools; 200 private schools, 1 State University and Colleges and 344 ALS Community Learning Centers. These schools are distributed among the four Congressional Districts of Batangas province. There are 412,579 total public formal education enrolment for SY 2021-2022, 236,041 of which are elementary pupils, 128,825 are junior high schools and 47,713 are senior high school students, 1191 Learners with Disabilities (LwD); 55,830 private school learners; 550 SUC enrolment and 7,080 are enrolled in Alternative Learning System.
As of 2021, the division has a total of 16,059 plantilla personnel consisting of 14,934 teaching, 624 teaching related and 951 non-teaching personnel. Considering its enrolment and workforce in 2021, DepEd Batangas officials are faced with a great challenge of fulfilling the Department of Education’s vision and DepEd Batangas’s mantra, Serbisyong Tapat at May Puso”. The Learning Recovery and Continuity Plan was designed to improve learners’ literacy and numeracy skills and address all the underlying identified gaps through achievable and sustainable tailored fit programs, projects, and activities to acquire advanced quality learning.
The Batangas ENLIVEN will act as a weapon for SDO Batangas Province to withstand the adversity of time and to address the basic education challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
